This two-day (12 hours) in-studio class introduces students to the design and construction of lightweight fascinators and cocktail hats using sinamay straw. Students will learn how to block and shape sinamay, layer and stiffen forms, wire edges, and create elegant silhouettes suitable for special occasions. Instruction also covers attaching headbands or combs and finishing with trims such as bows, feathers, and sculptural accents. Emphasis is placed on balance, proportion, and secure construction. By the end of the class, students will complete a finished sinamay fascinator or cocktail hat. This is a beginner-level class; basic hand-sewing skills are required.

Materials & Supplies: Materials are not provided as part of the class. A detailed materials and supplies list will be emailed to students one month prior to the class. The tutor will also prepare an optional materials pack available for purchase at $45 per pack.
