Beginner Level: Silk fabric-covered pill box hat

Beginner Level: Silk fabric-covered pill box hat
This hands-on, in-studio millinery class focuses on traditional techniques for making a fabric-covered hat using buckram and silk. Offered as an intensive two-day workshop (six hours per day), the course guides students through the complete process of blocking and constructing a classic buckram foundation, refining the form with proper wiring and stitching, and applying silk fabric smoothly and professionally.
Students will learn essential blocking techniques, the correct use of bias when covering curved forms, and traditional finishing methods used in couture and theatrical millinery. Emphasis is placed on precision, craftsmanship, and clean construction. By the end of the class, each student will complete a fully finished fabric-covered pillbox hat. This is a beginner-level class. No prior millinery experience is required; basic hand-sewing skills are helpful but not necessary.
Materials & Supplies: Materials are not provided as part of the class. A detailed materials and supplies list will be emailed to students one month prior to the class. The tutor will also prepare an optional materials pack available for purchase at $45 per pack.
