Occasional Hat with Window-Pane Sinamay Brim

Occasional Hat with Window-Pane Sinamay Brim
This in-studio millinery class (two-and-a-half days) introduces students to the construction of an elegant occasional hat featuring a sculptural window-pane sinamay brim. Students will learn how to design and build a lightweight hat base, create open-structure sinamay brims using window-pane techniques, and achieve balance between structure and transparency. Instruction covers shaping, stiffening, wiring, and securely assembling sinamay components, as well as refining proportions suitable for special-occasion wear.
Emphasis is placed on precision, craftsmanship, and clean construction while encouraging individual design expression. By the end of the class, each student will complete a finished occasional hat with a distinctive window-pane sinamay brim. This is an intermediate to advanced level class; confident hand-sewing skills are required.
